Course Scheduling as Strategy: Building the Case for Student Success
At many institutions, course scheduling has become an unintentional barrier to student success. Misaligned course offerings, scheduling conflicts, and outdated policies can delay graduation, increase costs, and frustrate both students and staff. The American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) is working with regional public universities to reframe the course schedule as a strategic lever for retention and completion—grounded in data, policy alignment, and cross-campus collaboration.
In this webinar, Dr. Lisa Hunter, Vice President of Academic Innovation and Transformation and Dr. Samantha Raynor, Program Manager from AASCU will provide steps how to build a clear, compelling case for change at your institution through:
- Clarifying the rationale for scheduling transformation
- Forming a strategic, cross-functional scheduling team
- Developing a strategic communications plan that positions scheduling as a driver of student success
- Understanding the link between pathways and annual scheduling
Also, the session will feature Dr. LeAnne Coder, Faculty Fellow for Student Success at Western Kentucky University, who will share real-world insights from her experience leading change management efforts. Attendees will leave with practical strategies, concrete examples, and actionable steps to advance student-centered scheduling on their campus.
