Building a Future without Food Waste & Hunger on Campus
More than 300 students and university leaders from across the world met at Walsh University in Canton, OH at the combined 4th Annual Food Waste & Hunger Summit and the 12th Annual UFWH Summit. Their focus was to learn about advocacy, service, and leadership to win the fight against food waste and hunger.
Ad Astra is pleased to sponsor The Ad Astra Hunger and Food Waste Mini-Grant competition in partnership with Universities Fighting World Hunger and The Campus Kitchens Project. Three $500 mini-grants are being awarded to launch a new food waste reduction or hunger relief project, or expand/strengthen/build sustainability for an already existing project to be implemented during the 2017 fall semester. The competition was open to individual students or student groups who participate in the Summit.
We are grateful to the eight campus groups who applied for the grants, and congratulate the following teams who were awarded the aid:
- The Campus Kitchen at the University of Kentucky
- The Mobile Food Pantry Pilot at Bowling Green State University
- The Campus Kitchen at Auburn University
