A Detroit native, Bob earned a B.S. degree in Psychology from Wayne State University. He moved to Minneapolis and began his career at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities campus in 1997. Bob joined the Scheduling Team in the Office of Classroom Management (OCM) in 2001 to support and maintain the Twin Cities’ first automated academic room scheduling system. Bob currently holds the position of System DBA/Admin for the University’s Enterprise Level installation of Astra Schedule and served as the Academic Lead and Event and Technical Co-Lead for the U of MN’s five campus Astra Schedule implementation in 2013.
He is responsible for system availability and upgrades, maintaining Scheduled Task Agent/SIS interface jobs, report customizations, and helpdesk support. He works closely with the Ad Astra Account and Tech Support Teams on problem determination and resolution.
Astra VII is now the academic and event-scheduling tool employed by the offices of the Registrars at the University of Minnesota’s five system campuses as well as 86 Administrative and Academic units. Roll-out to other campus areas, including The Mondale School of Law, is in progress. The University of Minnesota is using LDAP authentication via Active Directory and recently, they have begun mining data for campus calendars and a new scheduling tool using the Astra Schedule API.
