Joining Ad Astra in Spring 2017, Dr. John Barnshaw brings a wealth of experience in Higher Education research, data alignment, and statistical modeling. John earned his B.A. and M.A. from The University of North Carolina at Charlotte and a Ph.D. in Sociology from the University of Delaware. He recently served as the Director of Research and Public Policy at the American Association of University Professors (AAUP), where he was responsible for the Faculty Compensation Survey, and a variety of research-related activities pertaining to the academic labor force, tuition, and instructional expenditures. He also directed the National Study of Instructional Costs and Productivity (Delaware Cost Study), a longitudinal benchmarking study that explores faculty teaching, separately budgeted research and public service, and expenditures at the discipline level for four-year institutions.
As the Associate Vice President for Research and Statistics at Ad Astra, John is responsible for creating research and statistical solutions that facilitate unit and institutional improvement and Ad Astra’s Higher Education Scheduling Index (HESI™). He will also be advising on other Ad Astra products and services, specifically in helping our partner institutions allocate their resources as efficiently as possible.
