Nancy E. Gambrell: Assistant Registrar and Manager of Academic Scheduling; Indiana University at Bloomington

After receiving my bachelor’s degree from Indiana State University, I taught special education/emotionally disturbed classes for 10 years. I then moved to working in higher education/student services at Indiana University at Bloomington in 1987. During these past 22 years, I have been in various supervisory and administrative positions in the Registrar’s office. For the past 14 years, I have held the position of Assistant Registrar and Manager of Academic Scheduling. Our area is responsible for maintaining all department course listings and classroom assignments.

Indiana University, which consists of eight campuses, implemented Astra Schedule 5.2 in 2003-2004. At the Bloomington campus, we maintain a room inventory of around 270 rooms which are Registrar controlled rooms. We use Astra Schedule for assigning classrooms to sections and events.
