Marilyn Rhinehart

Marilyn Rhinehart is Executive Vice-President of Academic Affairs and Chief Academic Officer at Johnson County Community College in Overland Park, Kansas. From 1995 to 1999, she held the position of what is now the Dean of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences. Prior to coming to JCCC in 1995, Dr. Rhinehart served seventeen years as history professor and division head for the Behavioral Sciences at North Harris College in the North Harris Montgomery Community College District (now the Lone State College District) north of Houston, Texas. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree, Master of Arts degree, and Ph.D. in American history from the University of Houston. Her doctoral dissertation, “A Way of Work and A Way of Life: Coal Mining in Thurber, Texas, 1888-1926”, was published by Texas A&M University Press in 1992. Dr. Rhinehart has facilitated leadership workshops across the country and co-presented community building workshops based on the book Eight Habits of the Heart with author Clifton M. Taulbert.
